Before attending the Seaton workshop, our approach to failed hashboards was basically swapping entire machines and shipping bad boards overseas for 3-month turnaround times. The Initial Constraint
An almond processing property in regional NSW operated a 75-miner cluster behind their 150 kW rooftop solar array. During December and January, intake air temperatures inside the shed reached 46°C, causing miner fan RPM to hit 7,000 RPM and triggering thermal trip-offs across 60% of the fleet.
The Workshop Engineering Approach
The operator attended our 1-Day Solar Curtailment Strategy workshop and commissioned an On-Site Thermal Audit. We recalculated the shed static pressure, redesigned the intake louvre sizing from 4 m² to 11 m² using washable G3 pleated media, and deployed a positive-pressure exhaust wall.
The Measured Outcome
Static pressure dropped from -85 Pa down to -15 Pa. Intake temperatures were lowered by 7.5°C using an automated evaporative wet-pad cycle, and miner fan speeds stabilized at 4,800 RPM. Fleet uptime increased from 68% to 99.4% through the peak summer operating period.
Airflow resistance, not sheer machine horsepower, is the primary limiting factor in Australian regional mining installations.
